A local court has ruled that an elderly woman does not have to split her lottery winnings with her younger sister. Rose Bakaysa managed to win $500,000 in lottery prize winnings and was previously contracted to younger sister Theresa Sokaitis to split half of their winnings. Rose Bakaysa has argued that the contract was terminated in 2004 when the elderly sisters had an argument over the outcome of a few hundred dollars. That particular contract was deemed to turning point of the whole court affair.
During the argument in 2004, it was the younger sister Theresa Sokaitis who declared that she did not want to be in a gambling partnership anymore. The court heard that after the argument the sisters never purchased any more lottery tickets together or gambled together at the casino anymore. The two sisters had already stopped talking after they split the partnership in 2004 but the sisters decided to face off in court over a lottery winning in 2005.
