3) Missouri – QB Chase Daniel (+2000)
When it comes to the Heisman balloting it is as much about how you finish as much as your statistical output.
Going into the final weekend, the Missouri Tigers were flying high off a timely victory off Kansas the weekend before and a No. 1 standing in the BCS.
In fact, signs in the Kansas game predicted that Daniel would win the Heisman “Chase”.
Unfortunately Missouri would lose the Big 12 championship to Oklahoma—a game where Daniel threw no TD passes and 1 pick—by a final count of 38-17 dropping the Tigers out of the championship and BCS picture altogether and pretty much smearing Daniel’s Heisman campaign, a season where he completed nearly 70 percent of his passes; threw for 4,170 yards and 33 TDs and had a passer rating of 151.91.
4) Hawaii – QB Colt Brennan (+2000)
Another product of Hawaii head coach June Jones’ system (just like predecessor Timmy Chang), or a legitimate quarterback? That always seems to be the question asked of QBs coming out of Hawaii.
Still Brennan and the Warriors are the only undefeated team in the Top 25 and they earned the right to play in a BCS bowl (Sugar Bowl).
For the season, Brennan completed 71.4 percent of his passes for 4174 and 38 TDs earning a 166.3 passer rating.
The Scripps Howard Heisman poll has a proven record of success so if you’re in the market for Heisman Trophy betting, you might want to consider putting down some money on Tim Tebow.
