A court has heard that Tony Demarco, 64, was shot in the back of the head by loan sharks as retribution over his son’s gambling debts. Antony Demarco owed about 1 million pounds to two companies and was a freelance finance broker with a big gambling problem. After failing to recover from a large hit at the casino, Antony decided to borrow large sums of money off loan sharks.
Tony Demarco was a sandwich bar owner and was targeted in the murder plot to help recover funds that Antony Demarco had borrowed. Antony fell behind on his repayments when the loan sharks changed their conditions of the repayments. Antony had also worked an elaborate scheme of swindling money from two finance companies to help keep the loan sharks at bay. Investigators were called in investigate Antony and who is now attending gamblers anonymous to help cure his addiction.
