Crown Casino Increases Blackjack Edge
5th November 2009

Australia’s Crown Casino has been granted a change in blackjack rules by the Australian government to it’s $5 and $10 blackjack tables. Granted these are the most popular blackjack tables with the average amateur player, many media commentators feel that Crown Casino has decided that it will try to hack more money from the common man rather than providing a clean cut entertainment gambling service.

The new rules include changing the definition of a blackjack from the Ace with any ten card to only an Ace with a King, Queen or Jack card. A ten card now only pays 6-5 rather than the previous 3-2 payout. The blackjack dealers at Crown Casino are now also required to hit on a soft 17 so that the total can edge closer to an 18 or a 19 rather than standing. All these rules are designed to take advantage of inexperienced tourists and beginner blackjack players.
