Singapore has prosecuted it’s first person convicted of cheating at one of it’s casinos. Chinese national Hou Yongwei, 26 was jailed for 10 months for trying to cheat at the Resorts World Sentosa Casino. Hou was playing at the Sic Bo table and was trying to sneak in a $600 chip on the bet of three fours, after the dealer had opened the pot to reveal the winning numbers. The dealer managed to spot Hou’s attempt and informed his supervisor who then reported it to security.
Security reviewed the footage on CCTV camera and immediately arrested Hou. The footage was used in court as evidence against Hou, with Hou pleading guilty to his crime. The District Judge Ronald Gwee delivered a strict sentence as a warning to other casino patrons who are contemplating on cheating. Hou’s act carries a maximimum imprisonment of five years.
