Chinese gambler Wang Xing Rong has been fined $2,000 by the Singapore government for being caught for stealing gambling chips at the Marina Bay Sands casino. Wang was caught stealing two chips from another gambler and admitted to his crime at the magistrate’s court. The chips had only a face value of $25 each and were taken from American gambler Albert Huang during a hand of baccarat.
The court heard that Mr Huang had decided to play the game and had placed two $25 chips as a bet on the players pair box and another pair just outside the box on a baccarat table. He then had to attend to another matter and left the table, a dealer did not realise this and asked who the chips belonged to which Wang decided to claim ownership for. Wang then used the $25 chip to bet on tie and kept the other chip, walking away from the baccarat table when the bet did not win. When Mr Huang returned, he noticed the chips were missing and the pit supervisor was called. Wang was eventually tracked down by casino security and arrested.
