Casino Montelago To Close Doors 17th February 2010
The Casino Montelago will be closing it’s doors for good on March the 14th. The casino is located at Lake Las Vegas and is blaming the global financial crisis as the reason it can no longer be viable. The struggling US economy, low visitor numbers and lower bank lending means the casino cannot afford to operate any longer. Apart from the Casino Montelago, the Ritz Carlton will also be closing its doors at Lake Las Vegas.
At least 150 staff will have to start searching for new jobs after March the 14th. Thousands of jobs have been shed with Las Vegas struggling to maintain any positive momentum since the crisis. Many of the casinos in Las Vegas have experienced falling stock prices. The gloomy US casino industry has experienced some good news of late with Malaysian Genting Group looking to expand their casino operations in to the US.
