Casino Inquest Continues
30th April 2010

The staff of Adelaide casino Sky City, will be questioned over their knowledge of the death of Sky City employee Katherine Michelle Natt after she overdosed in August 2006 over non-prescription drugs. Ms Natt was part of the casino staff and was a 24 year old mother when she met her fate. The coronial inquest has led the investigation to questioning whether working at a casino drives up the possibility of a gambling problem.

A SkyCity gambling counsellor has pointed out that many of the casino’s staff would frequently patronise a local pub that had slot machines after finishing their shift. The pub would actually stagger it’s opening hours to fit in with the shift times of the Sky City casino staff, since many of them would go to the hotel to unwind and also play on the slot machines. There are now calls for a law to be introduced that require casino staff to report any staff gambling problems to superiors so that staff gambling problems can be addressed.
