The grand plan by two Chicago Alderman to raise the theory that the plot of land destined to be the site for the Chicago 2016 Olympic Stadium had already been destined to be land for a casino has been abandoned after the Mayor of Chicago, Richard Daley, gave the thumbs down to the whole idea. The building was of an old hospital where Olympic officials were hoping to demolish to build athlete villages for the Olympic games.
Now that the Olympic bid has failed, the site is now planned to become affordable housing estate rather than a casino. The news that the hospital could have become a casino quickly erupted as the talk of Chicago with the optimistic Aldermen Richard Mell and George Cardenas given a lot of coverage before the Mayor formally dumped their ambitious idea.
