Gamblers of the Great Canadian Casino will soon be able to drink liquor and enjoy their favourite table game as the casino has applied for a 832 seat liquor licence with the Nanaimo government. The management of the casino have met with the social planning departments of the city to discuss the potential problems of the casino having a liquor licence and it’s impact with the local community. The casino would need the city council’s approval if it was to be granted a licence by the province.
Situated downtown, the Great Canadian Casino is the only remaining site of the company’s other casinos that does not serve alcohol to it’s patrons. The management has announced that it’s customers, mainly aged over 40, would prefer to have the option of drinking and playing rather than having no alcohol when at the tables. Since many of the customers are tourists in search of a good time, allowing alcohol to be served on the premise would be much more convenient than having to walk off site.
