California Looking For Online Gambling 17th February 2010
To the relief of many US based online gamblers, California has taken a step forward in considering the merits of online gambling. The California State Governmental Organization Committee is working on a plan to legalize online gambling in the state. An international hearing has been put together to consider hearing from all communities and other governments to determine the best line of action for this issue.
President of BetFair USA, Gerard Cunnigham, has informed the committee that online poker in California would generate $900 million in revenue annually to the state. A figure that any government would not just glance over. The main opposition group to the movement are the Native tribe casinos which pay a big chunk of their profits to the government. The agreement that lies between the tribes and the government currently excludes online poker and could jeopardise the agreement if online poker is included in the scene.
