Betfair has won the race to be the first gambling company to feature a live real money casino on the iPhone. Apple has previously not allowed any gambling apps to enter it’s list of apps in the store, but now that Betfair has changed their policies around, Apple has given the green light. The key to allowing the gambling app to pass was that the app would not allow by US iphone users to use it since the US still bans online gambling.

Built into the app is a locator and if the locator detects that the app is being accessed by a US operator user, it will cease to function. Online gambling is still very much stalemated in the US. The senate is still debating on whether it is right to legalise it and overturn UIGEA. The Betfair app has the normal terms and conditions and age verification mechanisms to ensure minors are not allowed access to it.
