The Florida Gators have had about seven months to celebrate their BCS title victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes in the inaugural BCS National Championship game at University of Phoenix stadium at Glendale, Arizona, but the glory of that win is over and the Gators must set their sights on 2007.
Despite being defending champions, Florida is not ranked No. 1 with perennial Pac-10 power the USC Trojans taking the preseason honor.
Here are some teams that might garner some consideration when it comes to wagering on who will take this season’s BCS title.
USC Trojans +250
Pete Carroll might have been a sub-par coach in the NFL, but he’s been the exact opposite in the college ranks.
Carroll constantly keeps his ever-changing roster stocked with blue chip recruits and as a result, the Trojans are ranked No. 1 in the preseason USA Today poll.
QB John David Booty is an older and wiser man and the offense will see six seniors returning, although they will be working with a new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian and may have to adjust.
However, Sarkisian is not a newcomer to the coaching staff, so the players won’t need to learn many things from scratch.
Carroll and his SoCal crew are always in contention for the college football crown and expect no less in 2007.
