NFC West
Arizona Cardinals (+350)
There is a stat that says that the loser of the Superbowl is destined to nosedive the following season and that continues, expect the Cardinals to snatch the West from the talons of the Seattle Seahawks.
A lot of people predicted Arizona as a breakout team last year but they might be a year late.
The defense looks a little suspect, but the offense looks like it has a lot of potential.
Kurt Warner will start at QB, but his days behind center maybe numbered. Former USC Trojan Matt Leinart could very well have been getting a look on the first team but held out for more money and missed out on valuable training camp time. But Warner is injury prone and Leinart seems to be picking up the offense quickly. Could Matt unseat Kurt before the start of the season?
There will be many weapons for whoever lines up behind center. Although in his eighth season, Edgerrin James still has a lot of mileage and will help the Cards’ offense. They also have RB J.J. Arrington, who runs the 40 in 4.43 seconds and may learn a thing or two from the ex-Indy Colt.
The WR corps features two young studs in Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, both of whom caught over 1,400 yards each last season.
Neil Rackers really came to the forefront amongst kickers last year. He made 100 percent of his extra points which isn’t a big thing but made 95.2 percent of his field goals which is. Rackers was a remarkable 6-7 from 50+ yard range, 13 of 14 from 40-49 yard range and perfect from 20-39 yard range, giving the Cards an excellent last resort.
The defense does have question marks but there are some talented players including Bertrand Berry on the D-line, Adrian Wilson at Safety and the up-and-coming LB Karlos Dansby.
