Indianapolis Colts (-450)
There are a few reasons to doubt the Indianapolis Colts this year. Offensive threat Edgerrin James left and so did defensive yeomen David Thornton and Larry Tripplett. Peyton Manning essentially blamed his offensive line for the playoff loss to the Steelers, so there could be some resentment from the hogs, which is never a good thing.
But no other team in the South seems to have the weapons and resources as Indy, so the Colts should be a safe bet to take top spot again.
With the exception of the RB position, the song will remain the same. Peyton Manning will continue to pass to the likes of Marvin Harrison, Brandon Stokley and Reggie Wayne and despite the loss of James, the Colts won’t be hurting in the backfield. Dominic Rhodes steps into the spotlight and just in case he doesn’t pan out, LSU alum Joseph Addai will be waiting in the wings.
Special teams got a major boost when the Colts managed to woo Kicker Adam Vinatieri away from the Pats. Vinatieri was magic in the cold and unstable climate of Gillette Field so one can only imagine what he will accomplish in the controlled environment of the RCA.
