Division Winners: American Football Conference
AFC North
Pittsburgh Steelers (-180)
The AFC North, and the NFL for that matter, belongs to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fresh off their first Superbowl title since the 70’s, the Steelers will have to contend with the Bengals and Ravens, but shouldn’t have trouble taking the division despite some key losses.
Iconic RB Jerome Bettis retired, but the Bus wasn’t the primary runner last year and Duce Staley and Willie Parker are both returning, so they seem set at RB.
Multi-dimensional threat and WR Antwaan Randle El fled for greener pastures in the nation’s capital, but Superbowl XL MVP and WR Hines Ward didn’t, so the Steelers probably won’t be easing off on trick plays anytime soon.
DL Kimo von Oelhoffen headed east for the New York Jets, but that shouldn’t hamper Pittsburgh’s 3-4 schemes as LB Joey Porter, DE Aaron Smith and NT Casey Hampton will more than pick up the slack.
Ben Roethlisberger was in a motorcycle accident in the offseason, but it could have been a lot worse. He appeared to be OK at training camp and looked solid in exhibition. He did suffer a thumb injury but should be ready to start the season.
The heroes of Heinz Field have a brutal sked—ranking 5th—but division rivals Cincinnati and Baltimore have hard schedules too, so 1st in the North isn’t out of the question.
