Criss Angel Attempts to Outdo Houdini
20 August 2002

PRESS RELEASE

SOURCE: GoldenPalace.com

NEW YORK -- Online casino GoldenPalace.com seems to have a knack for backing winners. They have sponsored several champion boxers over the past year including the Undisputed Middleweight Champion Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins. Now they will be sponsoring illusionist Criss Angel's (2001 Magician of the Year) attempt to beat history's greatest escape artist at his own game.

On August 26, 2002, Angel will recreate Houdini's classic escape from a water torture chamber. The post-modern, gothic illusionist will be adding his own unique brand of dramatic flair to the attempt. His arms and legs will be bound in manacles, and he will be submerged in the 6' x 2' x 2-1/2' tank for 24 hours without food or sleep (Houdini was submerged for only a few minutes). Angel will be breathing through a 3/8" air tube that will be retracted at the 24th hour, after which he must execute a miraculous escape or breathe his last breath.

The Water Torture Cell, which will weigh over 1 ton and hold more than 220 gallons of water, will be on display Monday, August 19th at The World in Times Square (at Broadway and 43rd Street) in New York, and is open for inspection by the public.

Criss Angel has received rave reviews by The New York Times, New York Post, and The New York Daily News for over 350 spellbinding performances of his wildly popular "Criss Angel: Mindfreak" show at the World Underground Theatre on Broadway and 43rd Street.
