If you rewind to the summer of 1991, you might remember seeing pre-pubescent and teenage males changing bills for quarters and lining up outside arcades and corner stores just to have a shot at playing the Street Fighter II: World Warrior video game.
Fast forwarding to the present, there seems to be a wave of Street Fighter nostalgia with the impending release of Street Fighter IV and re-release of Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting as well as an upcoming movie based on SFII character Chun-Li and CryptoLogic is also getting in on the action with its release of a SFII-based slot game.
It’s not the first time CryptoLogic has done character-based slots as it has worked with Marvel Comics a number of times in the past and that was something that worked in the company’s favor when negotiating with Capcom (SFII’s developer and publisher).
“[Our work with Marvel] did factor in a great deal,” CryptoLogic VP of Marketing and Product Management, Justin Thouin explained to WinnerOnline.
