Ladbrokes's ELC The FA Cup Of Poker World
1 April, 2008

POKER

SOURCE: PRWeb

(London, England) — The Ladbrokes Poker ELC is the FA Cup of the poker circuit—created three years ago it has proved very popular since its initiation.

Initially, the tournament was developed to introduce women to live poker rather than just playing on their PCs at home, but the tournament has quickly established itself as a mainstay on the poker circuit attracting a varied field of players.

Samantha Alleyne, PR Manager for Ladbrokes Poker commented, "The European Ladies Championship is the FA Cup of the poker circuit."

"Amateurs pit their wits against some of the best online poker players around for a shot at the title and the glory. It's a really prestigious event and the beauty of the tournament is like the FA Cup, its an un-missable tournament guaranteed to deliver a few shock results."

Qualification for the European Ladies Championship in May runs daily on Ladbrokespoker.com until the end of April.

Some of the best female pokers in Europe will be playing and and each have a one in fifty chance of winning the £15,000 first prize and an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas.

The ELC created three years ago has proved very popular since its initiation.

Initially, the tournament was developed to act as an introduction to women to playing live poker rather than just on their PCs at home, but the tournament has quickly established itself as a mainstay on the circuit attracting a varied field of players.

As Samantha commented:

"This years ELC line-up includes nineteen year old, Annette Obrestad who last September at just 19 won the £1,000,000 first prize in a poker tournament with a majority male field. We've got women from all walks of life playing in the tournament including an Astrophysicist, housewives an array if business women and a 19 year old student. If this does not show that poker is for everyone nothing will."

Alleyne continued: "Poker is fun and can be a very lucrative pastime, it's one of the few games where women can play in the same arena as men and it seems that for the most part women are holding their own and in some case beating the men at their own game."
