The founder of Station Casinos Frank Fertita Jr has passed away at 70 years old. He died last week after having heart surgery a few weeks ago. Frank started off as a dealer back in 1960 to 1976 at the Tropicana casino in Atlantic City. He held other positions like pit boss, baccarat manager and general manager of various casinos.
Frank started the Station Casinos back in 1976 as a casino operator. Their first casino named Bingo Palace later went to IPO in 1993. In 2008, Frank and his brother, Lorenzo Fertitta were listed as billionaires in Forbe's annual list of the world's billionaires. In July 28, 2009, Station casinos filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy due to heavy debt and over ambitious expansion plans. Frank, passed away on August 21 and was well respected by all who worked for him.
