The once dazzling neon lights of Atlantic City is in deep red. Gambling is once again down in the second quarter of this year. It is becoming old news as what was once a booming area is continually feeling the bite of competition from other casinos around the country. Travellers are continually travelling to other states with their newer, more glamorous casinos.
For the optimists like Donald Trump, it will be a tough run out of this continual slide of revenue. New casinos are opening in other states every month, so his job is completely set out, persuade gamblers to come back to Atlantic City or continue to lose profits.
The second quarter of 2009 brought in revenues of $198.4 million for Atlantic City casinos, down 19.8% to last year's already poor figure of $247.3 million.
