Greektown Casino Jumps In Revenue
15 June, 2009

Greektown Casino in Detroit saw June revenue jump 24.2 percent compared with the same month last year. This news coincides with other Detroit casinos recording significant revenue drops. Greektown continues with an aggressive marketing approach to attract visitors and ensure that they have a good time.

Whilst Greektown saw its June revenue hit $28.8 million, MGM Grand Detroit Casino posted a revenue of $43.8 million, a 10.7 percent drop, and Motor City Casino posted $36.9 million, a 3.2 percent drop according to figures released by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

“I expect if there is an increase in problem gambling in Vancouver that the provincial government would be able to provide the information to us without us having to do that work,”

$10 million in tax revenue was passed on to the Government in the month, with all three casinos netting up gross of $109.5 million. This tax figure is still up from the $9.8 million that was collected by the state in the same month last year. Market share wise, MGM Grand still holds 40 percent of the market, whilst Motor City takes 34 percent and Greektown holds 26 percent.
