Las Vegas revenue has once again posted very disappointing figures with July revenue sitting at $414.5 million. Although the number looks large enough, it is much smaller than previous months and years. Given that it is summer and holiday season, traveler numbers have been the lowest in the last decade.
Expansionary gambling laws by other state governments have seen many new casinos being built across the US which has led to less travel to Las Vegas with so many travelers opting to just go to their local new brightly lit casino.
Vegas casinos now have the difficult task of readjusting their forecasts for next year and start making the necessary adjustments to ensure they remain financially viable. Such poor numbers will lead to cuts in staff and other spending, further fueling an already painful recession.
