The Rank Group Plc has announced that it is searching for a new managing director for its Mecca bingo division after incumbent Simon Wykes announced that he would part ways with the company.
According to the timesonline.co.uk, Wykes is to receive what would amount to a year's pay as well as other "contractual entitlements."
"It is understood that Mr. Wykes, 39, who was on his second stint with Rank, decided to leave as soon as he was told of the decision rather serving out a handover period," said the Times.
However, according to the brass at Rank, the parting sounded amicable.
"Simon has worked hard to stabilize Mecca Bingo during a period in which the industry has had to adapt to the effects of the smoking ban, the loss of Section 21 gaming machines and rising taxation," said Rank CEO Ian Burke.
"We have entered a new phase in our strategy, as we look to move beyond stabilization to rebuilding Mecca Bingo's profits."
"On behalf of the board I would like to thank Simon for his hard work and to wish him well for the future," Burke went on to say.
Rank says that it has already begun the search for a new managing director and according to the Times Online, analysts are suggesting that Burke bring in a non-gaming related hire for a fresh perspective.
