Swiss Look To Liberalize Online Gambling
23 April, 2009

NEWS

People say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but it isn't likely that Switzerland is seeking Denmark's affection in any way, although Swiss online gamblers are the ones who will be loving recent online gambling developments.

Just like the Danish, the Swiss could be loosening up its online gambling market.

"The government plans to liberalize online gambling but wants to tighten measures against other forms of illegal gaming," said a post at swissinfo.ch.

"The justice ministry said that it would draft a proposal granting a limited number of licences to operators of such internet activities."

The report went on to say that the justice ministry wanted to keep telephone and interactive TV gambling illegal and the legislation, if approved by parliament, could generate in the neighborhood of $22 million (CHF26 million).
