POKER
While sister Annie Duke is battling with Joan Rivers, Howard Lederer will be preparing for a summer charity poker tournament with wife Suzie.
Set for July 1 at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, the first-ever Suzie and Howard Lederer Celebrity Charity Poker Tournament will aim to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club according to pokerpages.com.
Public entries into the tournament will be accepted—buy-in will set you back $330 with multi rebuys at $200 and add-ons at $100—and tourney players have an opportunity to grab a first-place prize, which consists of a $20,000 seat to NBC's Poker After Dark, which was donated by fulltiltpoker.net.
The eventual charity tourney winner will have a chance to win $120,000 on NBC's poker show.
According to the Golden Nugget's poker director the tourney is a win-win situation.
"This is a very exciting and almost unbelievable poker opportunity," said John Colville on pokerpages.com.
"To not only be able to give our tournament winner a seat on nationally televised Poker After Dark, but also be able to help raise money for these great kids, is fantastic."
Registration for the event begins the day of at noontime although players will also have the opportunity to register early at the host casino's poker room.
As part of the festivities and for the seventh year, the Lederers will also be holding the yearly World Series of Barbeque for tournament players, celebrities and members of the media.
