Everyone knows how unpopular the United States' 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) is and amongst the constant critics, the Interactive Media and Gaming Association (iMEGA).
iMEGA challenged the constitutionality of the UIGEA and now will have its day in court.
"In a letter to counsel for both parties, Marcia M. Waldron, clerk for the appeals court, wrote that iMEGA v. Attorney-General USA, et al (Case Number 08-1981) has been tentatively listed on the merits on Monday, July 6 2009, in Philadelphia, PA," read a statement on iMEGA's website.
According to the Poker News Daily, iMEGA and the United States' Department of Justice will have seven days in which to announce who their counsel will be for the early-July hearing.
"Each party must also identify whether its attorney is a member of the bar of the Court," the pokernewsdaily.com reported.
"We’re very happy the Court is moving forward on this, and we’re confident the Court will consider the real-world effect of the law, regardless of the DOJ’s opposition," said iMEGA's chairman, Joe Brennan Jr.
