POKER
With all due respect to Annette Obrestad across the pond in Europe, Peter Eastgate became the youngest player to take a World Series of Poker main event title (in Vegas) last season, defeating runner-up Ivan Demidov in final table play—Eastgate took home $9,152,416 at the tender age of 22.
Eastgate overtook the "Poker Brat" Phil Hellmuth, who was 24 when he won in 1989, as the youngest player.
Both he and Demidov were rivals at the WSOP's final table last November but now are team mates as members of PokerStars.
The two were representing PokerStars on a limited basis after the final table but have been elevated to Team PokerStars pros, joining Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Vanessa Rousso and the like.
Both players won't have any special handles and will play with their given names online, "PeteEastgate" and "Ivan Demidov."
