In a story with many twists and turns, another twist has been thrown in the Stanleybet International-Greece saga.
Stanleybet International had a shop raided and shutdown by Greek officials back in November, for not having an operating license, but appealed and won the right to re-open.
Then Last week it was reported that Greece's highest administrative court would seek the opinion of European Court of Justice in the case between Stanleybet and Greece's betting monopoly OPAP.
However a wrench was thrown into the equation as Reuters reported Friday that a court ordered the Stanleybet shop to be closed again—the move came as a result of OPAP filing an appeal.
"The Athens administrative court accepted OPAP's appeal," said Reuters citing a Stanleybet statement.
"The court would not rule on whether Stanleybet's activities are legal or not, and did not justify its ruling."
Stanleybet said that it would continue to fight for its rights to offer services to members of the EU.
