The second longest running poker tournament in the world—next to the World Series of Poker—and the longest running tourney in Europe will once again run during Easter long weekend.
Set to run from Thursday, April 9, 2009 until Easter Monday, April 13, 2009, the buy-in will cost players €3,200 + €300.
The event begins with Irish Open Super Satellite and will conclude with a special charity NL Hold'em event with a €300 + €30 buy-in.
Paddy Power will donate all monies collected from registration as well as €100 from all player buy-ins to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin, and it is hoped that around €50,000 will be raised.
There will be a number of ways to qualify for this year's Paddy Power Irish Open as well.
In Paddy's Sole Survivor, players need to qualify for the event and outlast all qualifiers at the Paddy Power Irish Open in order to win a prize worth €100,000.
According to Paddy, "the package itself is made up of €75,000 in cash (paid in three instalments through the year) and €25,000 held for live event buy-ins and expenses; the events the Sole Survivor will play will be decided in consultation with paddypowerpoker.com."
Also, Paddy will be holding a "Cheap Date Promotion" that goes tomorrow (February 10).
The Cheap Date promo is "a $1 rebuy that guarantees an Irish Open package worth €3,500 to the winner as well as $500 spending money," reports Bluff Europe.
"Paddy’s Cheap Date will allow one of our players to experience the excitement of big-time poker at Europe’s premier tournament," said Paddy Power's head of poker Eric Booth.
"They’ll also have a shot at taking down the €100,000 Sole Survivor package—every poker player’s hearts desire."
