POKER
Already with the Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), PokerStars is gearing up to launch a tour for players in Australia and New Zealand—the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour, or ANZPT for short.
"Searching for the next local Poker Star, the ANZPT will go to Australia and New Zealand’s leading casinos," said the ANZPT's website.
"The tour is league-based. This means that players are awarded points for the number of events they enter in addition to the position they finish."
Season 1 will begin in Adelaide, Australia's Sky City Casino on February 4, with a $3000 event and run until July; qualifying events for the Adelaide opener are already taking place at PokerStars.
"Following the success of the APPT earlier this year, we are excited to be expanding poker further throughout this region," explained ANZPT spokesperson Danny McDonagh.
"The ANZPT will provide Australian and New Zealand poker players with a professionally executed tour in their own backyard."
