PokerStars "ElkY" Grospellier A "High Roller"
12 January, 2009

POKER

One of Pokerstars' own took its Caribbean Adventure $25,000 High Roller event as French poker pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier not only took first place but the $433,500 that came along with it.

Grospellier's latest victory complements wins at last year's PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, the World Poker Tour's October Festa al Lago event and a runner up finish at PokerStars' WCOOP heads-up championship.

The field only consisted of 48 players and some big names were playing, including the likes of Antonio Esfandiari, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hansen, Greg Raymer, Ivan Demidov, Dario Minieri and Joe Hachem and as well, the final table had the likes of Daniel Alaei, Scott Seiver and Eli Elezra—Grospellier outlasted them all.

"It feels great. Last year's main event was bigger but this means a lot," said this year's High Roller event winner.

"The field was so prestigious and I played very well against good players. This will be a great memory for me."

Grospellier's EPT tourney winnings have surpassed the €2 million mark according to a release and the High Roller win also enabled him to pad his lead atop France's all-time money list.

Canadian Will Molson was beaten by "ElkY" in final table heads up play and took home $228,000 as the runner up.
