WSOP Academy Introducing Cash Game Training
19 December, 2008

POKER

The World Series of Poker Academy has announced that it will start off its 2009 schedule with a pair of two-day events that will educate players on the art of NL Hold'em cash game play.

According to a release from the WSOP Academy's website (www.wsopacademy.com):

" . . . beginning in 2009, the World Series of Poker Academy, poker’s premier series of instructional camps, will provide poker players of all skill levels with the foundation and tools needed to become a consistent winning cash game player with the launch of its new Cash Game Academy, a two-day, intensive poker school dedicated exclusively to No Limit Hold’em cash game play."

The first Cash Game Academy event takes place at Harrah's Atlantic City the weekend of January 24-25, 2009.

Amongst the poker professionals on hand to offer words of wisdom as well as strategy for the Atlantic City event, Mark Seif, Paul Wasicka and Alex Outhred.

The second session will take place at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas two weeks later and runs from February 7-8, 2009; alongside Seif and Outhred, who are pulling double duty, will be Michael Gracz.

Post Oak Productions is the company that produces the WSOP Academy and according to one of its employees, the new Cash Game Academy teaches more than just how to win.

"The WSOP Academy has successfully helped players make it to the final table and win bracelets by teaching tournament strategy, but to become an overall winning poker player you must also become a consistent cash game player," said Brandon Rosen.

"Your cash game skills and results will likely determine your success and more importantly, your longevity as a poker player. With this in mind, we created the Cash Game Academy."

The seminars will obviously include some cash game play but will also be complemented by video analysis, real-time, live-play workshops and will aim to teach those in attendance the differences between tourney and cash game play as well as "development of reading ability and putting opponents on hand ranges, bankroll management and sophisticated plays and strategies specific to cash game play," as the academy explained in a release.

The seminars will be open to players of all skill levels. More here.
