Gambling The Flavour For Polish
5th August 2009

The Polish Ministry of Finance has released figures that show that Polish citizens spent over $5 billion on gambling in 2008. This number is marginally higher than the country’s combined profits of tobacco and alcohol profits for the same year. This figure has pointed to Polish citizens now really starting to get use to and enjoy all the low cost slot machines that are available in Polish pubs, supermarkets and gas stations. These low paying slot machines are designed to only pay out a maximum of $20 per game, with half of the gambling revenue profited by casinos, bookmakers, slot machine saloons and the Polish State Lottery.

2007 saw Polish citizens spending $3.8 billion in gambling. This figure generates a figure of 42% growth for the Polish gambling market and makes it one of the fastest growing markets in Europe. Slot machine numbers have doubled during the last year from 23,000 to 46,000 machines with revenue from slots alone growing 73.2% to $2.7 billion.

The Polish government continues to expand it’s gambling infrastructure with 30,000 machines already approved by the Finance Department.
