The city of Vancouver has released a statement that 450 slot machines that were added to Hastings Park in the last year has led to no increase in crime in the neighbourhood. Going through very vocal objections from the neighbourhood with fears of crime and social costs, the slot machines have come through with only positive news. The slot machines have led to numerous economic benefits like job creation and tax revenue for the government.

Raymond Louie, a politician of the local municipality of Hastings Park had these words.

“I expect if there is an increase in problem gambling in Vancouver that the provincial government would be able to provide the information to us without us having to do that work,”

Hastings Park is located in the northeast sector of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It boasts large sporting facilities that also serve as entertainment venues.
